Every study, lined up on one timeline

A patient's imaging history stops being a folder of loose files. Prior studies align automatically by date, and Oralytix flags what's actually different between them — not just that two images exist.

The problem it solves

Comparison by memory doesn't scale

A patient might have a 2022 X-ray, a 2024 X-ray, and a current 2026 study on file. Working out whether something changed between them usually means opening two windows, flipping back and forth, and trusting your own memory of what the last one looked like — for every patient, every visit.

Oralytix builds an imaging timeline automatically: every study a patient has on file, ordered by date, aligned so the same tooth sits in the same place across every image.

Three ways to look

Side-by-side, overlay, or difference

Select any two studies and Oralytix offers three comparison views. Side-by-side keeps both images in full, next to each other. Overlay blends them into one view so misalignment or change is visible at a glance. Difference view highlights only what's changed, stripping out everything that stayed the same.

What the system does and doesn't do

It points toward change. The dentist reads it.

A note like "potential change, region of tooth 36" tells the dentist exactly where to look — it doesn't tell them what the change means. That judgment stays with the person who can see the full clinical picture: symptoms, patient history, and the images themselves.

Where this is headed

Today, comparison surfaces regions that look different between studies. The next phase of the roadmap turns this into automatic change detection — flagging not just that something's different, but a structured description of what changed. See the full story on the product roadmap.

Common questions

Common questions about timeline and comparison

How many prior studies can the timeline hold?
There's no practical limit — every study on file for a patient becomes part of the timeline automatically as it's uploaded.
What if two studies use different imaging equipment?
Alignment works across equipment and modality differences within reason — comparing two panoramic studies, or two periapicals of the same tooth, is the strongest case. Comparing across very different modalities is more limited today.
Does the timeline replace the practice's existing imaging archive?
No — it reads from the same stored images already on file and builds the comparison view on top. It's a way of looking at existing history, not a separate archive to maintain.
